April 2008: LabHouse boss wins Gold! | At the World Underwater Hockey Championships held in Durban, the South African Masters team, in which MD Daniel Garside played, won the Gold medal by beating Holland 9-1 in the finals. Daniel has been playing for over 24 years and has previously won two Silvers and a Bronze with the Elite SA side at the World Champs since 1992. Again just goes to show that LabHouse people are normal people doing extraordinary things in both work and play!

March 2008: Sello Boikhutso now a LabHouse Director | In March this year, Sello became a shareholder and Director of LabHouse. In recent negotiations, an agreement was reached between Sello, MD Daniel Garside and the non-executive Directors of LabHouse from Clade (Pty) Ltd, to purchase their shares in full. As a result both Sello and Daniel are now the only LabHouse Directors and shareholders. LabHouse may be the first in the lab equipment industry that truly empowers productive black staff from within in terms of bona fide shareholding and directorship. |
February 2008: Grant Martin goes to Tekmar training in Thailand | Grant recently attended the sales and service training for Tekmar TOC and VOC products in Phuket, Thailand. Here the two new Tekmar products, the Fusion UV/Persulphate TOC analyser and the Stratum Purge and Trap system, were available for hands-on training. This forms part of LabHouse’s policy to provide all our end users with support from the experienced and trained people at LabHouse.

January 2008: LabHouse does key installations | Following onto the success of certain key client deals, LabHouse has installed: A Purge and Trap system at Cape Town Scientific Services, to do Geosmin and 2MIB as well as THM analysis; A High Temperature Combustion TOC system at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Metro Council for water sample analysis; A Purge and Trap system at Erwat to do Volatile Organics in wastewater. |
May 2007: LabHouse with Rand Water host Tekmar seminar | A Tekmar seminar on TOC and VOC analysis was held at Rand Water and was attended by over 50 clients and potential clients. Tekmar’s International Marketing Manager from the USA, Kevin Dubas, presented these seminars that were well received. Thereafter a short preventative maintenance training course on TOC and then VOC was held for Tekmar users, further adding to the support that LabHouse offers on Tekmar products. |
April 2007: LabHouse wins Tekmar award | LabHouse was presented with the Sales Excellence Award in 2007 for sales of Tekmar products. This is the fourth sales achievement award LabHouse has won from Tekmar since becoming the SA distributor in 2000.

March 2007: LabHouse boss buys a bike | After the successful performance of LabHouse in 2006, MD Daniel Garside decided to buy a cruiser motorbike to celebrate. Call it “mid-life crisis” or whatever, there must be a thin link between chemistry and biking! Just goes to show that LabHouse people are normal people doing extraordinary things in both work and play!

February 2007: Aspen-Pharmacare places 3 TOC orders | Pharmaceutical giant, Aspen Pharmacare, has placed a total of 3 orders for the Tekmar Phoenix TOC system from LabHouse. These systems will be used for Ultra-pure water determination according to USP requirements, as well as for cleaning validations which has become another pressing requirement for pharmaceutical companies. The systems will be going to different plants in PE and in EL. |
| October 2006: Grant Martin wins Gauteng bodybuilding championships | Grant won the welter weight division at the local champs and went on to come 6th at the SA Champs held in Durban. Just goes to show that LabHouse people are normal people doing extraordinary things in both work and play!

| September 2006: Isak Gerber joins LabHouse as Pharmaceutical Business Specialist | We welcome Isak on board this month. Having just submitted his PhD and spent 6 months at a bio-pharmaceutical company, he now joins us to service and support our pharmaceutical clients. He has already received his first order after only 4 weeks in the sales environment: An Ultra-pure water system from Barnstead! With his knowledge and credentials we are convinced he will do us proud! |
| August 2006: LabHouse is moving! | LabHouse will be moving to new premises that they recently acquired. The move will be effective in September and will be within a stone's throw from our current abode. All new details will be supplied as soon as they are available. |
| July 2006: Yolanda Wessels joins LabHouse as Internal sales Specialist | Yolanda joins LabHouse from July as an internal sales support. She has a National Diploma in Biomedical Technology degree and hails from SABTS. She will be reporting to Sales Manager Grant Martin. We welcome Yolanda on board! |
| June 2006: Sello Boikhutso attends Tekmar TOC sales and service training | LabHouse Environmental Business Specialist, Sello Boikhutso, recently returned from Frankfort, Germany, where he attended Tekmar TOC product training for a week. Being his first trip abroad, Sello found the experience unforgettable. “besides the excellent training we received, I had a chance to witness a World cup game on a large TV screen on the banks of the Maine river with a thousand screaming local fans!” The training will add to Sello’s already comprehensive TOC experience to further assist client requirements. |
| May 2006: LabHouse ran a training course on Pharmaceutical Cleaning Validation | LabHouse recently ran a training course on Pharmaceutical Cleaning Validation. The course was held in Johannesburg and then run again in Port Elizabeth. Will McHale, the Pharmaceutical Product Specialist from Teledyne-Tekmar USA, ran the 2 day course. Feedback on the course was very positive with attendees saying it had been the best CIP course they had been on. A Tekmar Phoenix 8000 TOC unit was available for practical work involving swab recoveries. |
| April 2006: LabHouse has now become a sub distributor for Sartorious balances | LabHouse Sales Manager, Grant Martin, concluded the agreement with Sartorius representatives, xxxxx. Natalie Sansom from xxx says the markets LabHouse are involved with particularly suit Sartorious balance products. LabHouse staff have already received 2 training sessions on the products to fulfill the client expectations. |
| March 2006: LabHouse announces successful sale of laboratory contract business | LabHouse has successfully sold its contract lab business to Acorn Pharmaceuticals. The purchase of the lab equipment was finalised in an agreement in March of this year. MD Daniel Garside commented: “It was sad to see this integral part of our business go, but in reality we have to focus more on support of our equipment sale business and that of training. Both of these are by far the most significant part of our business. I am glad that Acorn, being one of our top contract lab clients for many years, have taken over the reigns.” Existing clients should have no problems during this transformation. |
